I think it's possible that this simply means that Harry heard the 
*sound* of Voldemort's laughter, that is, that he *recognized* it as 
Voldemort's, from his own flashbacks of his mother's death.  Maybe 
the way TR laughed managed to be carried on into his Voldy form.
