Fair enough, Neri--thanks for pointing to that bit from DD.  It's 
just what I wanted, an explanation...and I had forgotten it.  
[Sometimes it's a pain to be away from my books while I'm doing most 
of my posting.  But if I had a stack of 2,689 pages sitting next to 
my computer, *somebody* just *might* get suspicious!]

Anyhoo, your point about Snape *not* running off to DD after the 
Quidditch match is something I do struggle with.  I DON'T believe he 
did, I DON'T believe DD knew Voldy was *right* there *on* Quirrell, 
so... if I'm right about that... then Snape did keep silent.  Why??  
Haven't the foggiest.  Grrrrr!

As for Snape's actions the night of the DoM battle, well, um... I 
think you & Potioncat were doing just fine handling that discussion 
without me.
