hmm... well, JKR has this tendancy to use something to refernce something
which references something that will reference whatever she's trying to hint at.
If that sentence made sense to you, then you probably already know how the
books will end, because it sure didn't make sense to me...

Anyway, I've always wondered if all of the vampire and bat refences weren't
supposed to mean he was a vampire, but perhaps that he is a bat animagi. There
are too many references to Snape gliding like a bat and moving like a bat and
Alan Rickman (who we *know* has information straight from JKR that we haven't
been told yet) choosing to have that sort of vampiric presense. There has to
be something in those refences.

I also can't help thinking that *if* Snape is a vampire, Hermione already
knows. Hermione knew right away that Lupin was a werewolf from the essay Snape
made them write, so when Lupin made them write the vampire essay, she would
have figured it out if it were true. That said, if it *is* true and she *does*
know that Snape is a werewolf, then why would she keep that from her friends?
She didn't tell Lupin's secret, but she *liked* Lupin. If she is hiding this,
what else could she be hiding? Hermione tends to know so much more than she
lets on. I can't help thinking she knows what the bat clues mean. She *is*
JKR's voice, afterall...

"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that
brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me
and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its
path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."
