I've always had the impression, and this may be up for
interpretation, that McGonagall and Snape have a running competition
over quidditch that they enjoy...that is, rather than being bitter
rivals.
I can recall one time where their differences came out. It was in
GoF right after Harry was named as a champion. And even then it was
done with anger, but not ill will.
And of course there's my favorite scene in Career Advice when she
smiles as she tells Harry he'll have to take Potions.
