Draco knew that Harry was terrified of the Dementors. I think it is 
reasonable to assume that he thought that Harry was terrified of mere 
sight of them . After all, we don't know  how well he studied 
Dementors.


Also, I would not say "mere sight of someone in Dementors Robes", 
but "sight of the dementors", because Harry did think that they were 
real Dementors.
