Mrs. Norris was completely frozen. I'm not sure what would 
happen if you tried to force a petrified person's joints--they might 
shatter. Perhaps Harry is just lucky he didn't damage 
Hermione's hand.

 Baths might be dangerous for the same reason--Hermione 
might break if she were dropped!

I suggest a light dusting, daily. :)
