What if other teachers behaved like Snape?

I agree.  I also agree with Irene's comments about the Occlumency 
lessons.  I thought Snape treated Harry sternly, but not tauntingly 
in these classes.  What I find interesting is that some readers see 
insults.  I think it is the difference between seeing lessons from 
Harry's point of view and seeing them from Snape's.

But there was not a chance these two could be successful.
