Or American non-Catholics :).  Anyone who spent some time in Catholic 
school probably remembers having their throats blessed with crossed 
candles on the feast of St. Blaise, patron saint of diseases of the 
throat.  I think I remember that he's supposed to have saved someone 
from choking.
