I agree. Since they Weasleys are a pure-blood family (and pure 
bloods seem to be the nobility of the Wizarding World) the Malfoys 
no doubt see them as traitors to their class. I'm an American, but 
from what I've read of (granted, Victorian) British society, class 
betrayal was a very serious issue.
