I don't know if I'm just being excessively dumb here but I thought
we all knew exactly why Harry survived and Voldemort was defeated -
his mothers sacrifice caused the curse to rebound on Voldemort. So
why would Harry treat it as if it were still unexplained? Because he
didn't want to get into that conversation with Cho?
Can anyone clear this up?
vmonte responds:
Dumbledore says the same thing in the begining of SS/PS. That they
may never know exactly what happened on that night (when he is
talking to MM in front of the Dursley house).
I think that they understand that Lily somehow protected Harry, but
they are not sure of the exact events that led up to it. I'm
guessing that DD knows that Lily saved Harry with an old spell
because Snape told him. How else would he even know that much? Does
that mean that Snape was there? Or did a painting at the house tell
DD?
vivian - I'm confused even more now...
