I have always thought of this scene as Alice trying to send Neville a
message. IMHO, Dumbledore knew from the start that there were two
possibilities to
defeat Voldemort, Harry and Neville. I think that Dumbledore told both sets
of
parents that their sons were targets, and the Potters did what they could
and
the Longbottoms did what they could. We have a good idea of what the Potters
did, but we don't know what the Longbottoms did.
Batchevra (who thinks that the Longbottoms may have supressed Neville's
abilities and didn't tell Gran.)

Gina:
I have GREAT hope for Neville's parents and I fully believe
something is going on here. Maybe there IS a message but Neville cannot
figure it out and is too embarrassed to ask anyone for help!
