No, they probably didn't realise what the implications of the Prophecy
(if they ever heard it, which I doubt) would mean, but I suspect that
DD did. Which puts him in a very different light. It would explain why
he's always apologising to Harry, for one thing.
I'm not sure that Voldy did want to kill Harry, or not in the accepted
meaning of the word - I think he wanted to possess him as he himself
had been possessed in the Chamber. It's Lily's "Take me instead!" that
adds credence to that theory. Well, it does for me, but what do I know?
