This got me thinking, maybe his mom is actually his
stepmom? If his birth mother died when he was a baby
without telling his father that she was a witch, or if
she told him, but like Tom Riddle Sr, he divorced her,
then there's no reason to wait for Hogwarts letter.

And if his birth mother is the heir of Hufflepuff, it
would be interesting...
