What about the scene where Harry is stuck in the staircase and he 
tells Crouch!Moody about the Marauders Map (which never ever lies) 
showing Barty Crouch investigating Snape's office (and probably 
stealing ingredients for Polyjuice potion). I mean JKR told us right 
there who he was! I think the big red flag should have gone up after 
he borrowed the map from Harry, in order to prevent Harry from 
seeing his true identity on the map, not that Harry would have 
understood or anything.
