Steve, shouldn't the U.S. editions if they were revised at some point 
have something stating about the revision on the copyright page? 

This may not be relevant but my 2002 paperback copy has a paragraph 
on the copyright page that I thought was unusual, it says:

"If you purchased this book without a cover, you should be aware that 
this book is stolen property. It was reported as "unsold and 
destroyed" to the publisher, and neither the author nor the publisher 
has received any payment for this "stripped book."  

I thought it was an interesting statement.
