Actually, my understanding was that there would still be some sort of
magical ancestry for a muggleborn witch or wizard--just not an
extremely recent generation...  Otherwise, where did the magic come
from to start with?  I just thought it was a recessive trait that
disappeared for a while but could sometimes randomly turn back up.
