Potters had a portrait on their walls that acted as a messenger
between them and Dumbledore. We've learned that this works even under
the Fidelius Charm for Grimmauld Place, so why not for the Potters?
The portrait would make an excellent and reliable eyewitness for DD
>that Voldemort is indeed 'gone'.
Annemehr:
Beautiful! And when the Potters' house begins to be demolished, the
subject of the painting simply flees to their other frame. They could
even try to get back again afterward to see what they could see. If
the painting was still intact, great; if it was destroyed, well at
least Dumbledore was informed of all that had gone before.
I really hope you're right, and that Harry gets to talk to that
portrait. It'd be amusing if it turned out it was Phineas Nigellus --
what a conversation that would be! And old Phineas does seem to have
a lot of frames around.

with a big "welcome to the group!" for Pet :-)
