But that would explain why the sorting had difficulty placing Harry. 
Sometimes simple is the easiest thing to overlook. The LV/Harry 
conflict is about an evil wizard and the boy who was born that will 
defeat him. If Harrry was not the one or chose to live a life that 
had his own best interest at heart ala Lucious Malfoy, then LV would 
not bother him; there would be no conflict.  Also whether or not it 
was intended, there is a good vs evil message in the books.
