My copy of PS is what I believe should be refered to as UK edition (but it may not be 
exactly the same since it was printed in Canada with Raincoast and Bloomsbury) and it 
definately says Hagrid intended to return it to Sirius.

Pg 17: "Yeah," said Hagrid in a very muffled voice. "I'll be takin' Sirius his bike back. 
G'night, Professor McGonagall - Professor Dumbledore, sir."
