My theories:

1) Dobby and Winky are both small ;)

2) In book 4 Moaning Myrtle tells Harry 'all sorts' live in the lake.
The Durmstrang ship appeared in the lake. Where else can you travel to
in the lake?

3) In book 5 Arthur Weasley wrote a report on firearms. We all know
how much he tinkers with things. I actually worried when I read that
line. The last thing Arthur needs is a gun. Or a magically enhanced
one, for that matter.
