And, didn't the sorting hat song in OOTP say that to keep the school
from crumbling a united front would be necessary?
vmonte responds:
I believe that the school will be attacked by the DEs in
book 7 and the children (from all houses) will unite and fight for
the good side. (Remember they've been taking DADA lessons from Harry!)
Now Eustace_Scrubb:
However, were any Slytherins in the DA? I don't recall any...else
there wouldn't be so much theorizing about who the "good Slytherin"
might be.
So for _all houses_ to unite in Book 7, JKR has to do a major bit of
character development involving not just a few Slytherins, but the
house in general. Right now, there's not much foundation on which
to build a more sympathetic set of Slytherins.
I also wonder whether Umbridge taught the members of the Inquisitorial
Squad anything much useful (or even if she was capable of doing
so)...if so, combined with the fact that several have DE parents, the
remnants of the IS could in fact develop into a 5th-column Anti-DA
(again, if the DEs children return to school in the first place).
And were _any_ members of the IS non-Slytherins?
