I don't think he'd (DD) go so far as to illegally teach
them to apparate at sixteen since it would be a law rather than a
school rule that he'd be breaking.

young teens to illegally use a Ministry-controlled Time-Turner to
subvert the Ministry? I disagree. In fact, I think it would be 100%
reckless if no one taught Harry Apparition ASAP.

can get basically) by the Ministry itself, then I at least think DD
himself would arrange for someone/somehow to teach Harry on the sly.

Hm. I still think that *if* it's illegal to teach apparation to
students under seventeen (and Steve is right that we don't know that
for a fact), DD would *generally* abide by that law. I still see no
evidence for Apparation classes at Hogwarts, for example. (Wait before
responding, please.)
You're right that Harry is an exception to most rules and that DD does
more than the usual rule-bending for him, but I think Apparation could
actually place him in *more* danger rather than less unless he curbs
his tendencies to recklessness and jumping to conclusions.
(*Dis*apparating is another matter, as it would enable him to get out
of harm's way quickly, but probably you can't learn one skill without
the other.)
I personally think that DD's strategy in Book 6 will still be too keep
Harry safe (but informed, this time!). In Book 7, when the war has
intensified and Harry is legally of age, things will be different.
Let's reserve judgment, shall we, and not call positions we disagree
with ridiculous? Even if a position is totally untenable, it should be
responded to courteously and respectfully or ignored as unworthy of a
response.
BTW, I understand and respect the List Elves' request that we snip
adequately, but I think that oversnipping (taking people's remarks out
of context) can lead to misunderstanding, which is worse than needless
repetion. I've had some problems lately with remarks being taken out
of context (not by you, Arya) and thought that might be the case here
as well. I had to go upthread to find out who I meant by "them." It
turned out to be HRH, so Arya's specific application of it to Harry is
not too far off the mark. But, please, everyone, let's be careful with
attributions, snipping, and tone!
Carol, with apologies for sounding like a List Elf, but I know I'm not
the only one who feels this way
