Actually, there's been a poll up about this since 6/21/2001...It has 
always run about 70 to 80 percent red herring and the recent 
JKR talk doesn't seem to have changed that. On the other hand, 
287 people have voted yes,including me. I hold with Potioncat: 
JKR is in trying-to-keep-the-presents-secret-till- 
Christmas-morning mode, and while she won't lie, she's 
perfectly capable of letting truth stand in for honesty. <g> Sort of 
like Dumbledore in chapter 27 of OOP. Nothing he says is 
untrue, and it's all intentionally misleading.

Considering JKR's  own drawing of Snape with Bela Lugosi style 
high collar and arms folded on his chest, I'm not changing my 
vote.
