As for Snape's smile during the examination of Mrs. Norris: I can't
work out whether Harry was wrong about the smile...was it some other
expression? Or whether, Snape like JKR doesn't like cats in the
first place and was amused at the concern.
vmonte responds:
I always thought that Snape's reaction during the Mrs. Norris scene
had more to do with Snape's sentiments over the cat's predicament
rather than Filch's.
Why was that cat hung upside down? Is there something Snape knows
about that cat that we don't yet know?
I do know that that cat is very nosey. If I wanted to wander about
the halls of the school without anyone finding out -- that cat would
be the first thing on my list to go!
I can understand why Snape would find the situation funny.
