But we aren't told that the 12 uses of dragon's blood are alchemy. 
We're told he's famous for 3 different events. He defeated 
Grindlewald. He discovered twelve uses for the blood. He worked in 
alchemy.

DD is one of the most powerful wizards of the age, so it follows he 
would be outstanding in different areas of magic.
