When I raised the issue of Lupin's possible resentment, I in no way
whatsoever meant to disparage him in the slightest. I adore Lupin.
He is my favorite character. He is also, IMHO, the most emotionally
complex character in the entire series. . There is an inner
conflict in Lupin that goes back to the Marauder days. I have no
doubt that he loves Harry. That is what is so interesting. I was
wondering if Lupin felt any inner conflict between his love for
Harry as a surrogate father figure and his love for Sirius as a
surrogate brother. To me, Sirius' death is kind of like a bridge
from Lupin's past to his future. Love, death and change are all
difficult.
