P.S. Although Wormtail may well have informed LV that the Longbottoms
as well as the Potters fit the Prophecy, he couldn't have been the one
who sent BRRB after the Longbottoms. He was already supposedly
"murdered" by Sirius (and apparently considered a traitor by Bellatrix
and Co. because of the backfired AK). The torture of the Longbottoms
occurred somewhat later, after most of the DEs were caught and people
were starting to feel safe.

I don't know about this.  I know the Longbottoms were attacked later 
as you say, but that does not mean that the information was given to 
BRRB on the day they attacked.  IMVVHO Peter gave them the 
information the day after the Potters died and then ran for it.  
Sirius did not catch up to him until late the next day, plenty of 
time for him to meet up with other DEs point them in another 
direction and run.  Peter was hiding from the DE's, I just think he 
gave them more than one reason to want him.  He certainly did not 
have any problem with others getting hurt if it meant saving his own 
skin.

That's what I think anyway...One person who I KNOW is ESE!
