Good point, but looking at the other side of it, doing just as you suggest could 
tip off the "good guys" that there's a more personal relationship involved 
between Snape and these students, and very well could jeopardize his job.  While 
you could very well be correct, there's also the possibility the DE would 
recognize that doing this very thing might point out their connection to Snape.

(If this has been mentioned already, my apologies.  I'm still trying to absorb 
everything that has been said in this topic :)

Of course, there's no telling what his father might have taught him.  Maybe 
giving him advanced lessons to prepare his boy for a future life as a DE?
