Oops, I didn't mean for it look like that.  In fact as I posted it, I 
wondered if I would look like a sexist.  I was just comparing it to 
the idea that some associations do affect value. (Actually agreeing 
with a part of your post!) And I've seen  the 
general esteem of doctors drop as women moved into the field.  (I am 
sexist enough to think that women becoming doctors improved the 
profession, but that would be a different discussion group)

Potioncat: I was afraid  I was getting into personalities (of 
characters)  here rather than positions.  I think Carol has addressed 
this in a later post so I will leave it. 


I guess given that this is our opinions and not anything fully 
supported by canon, we'll have to agree to disagree until we can find 
something else to argue about (erm, discuss)  :-)
