The simple solution to this is for those professors with families to
have a residence in Hogsmeade.  The village is outside the castle
grounds but close enough for a faculty member to easily reach the
castle in all but the worst of weather.

Having professors living in Hogsmeade, and not eating in the Great
Hall, could also explain how Hogwarts can have a large enough faculty
to practically handle a thousand students.
