Potioncat:
I've always thought it was sad that the two people we've seen Snape 
call by first names are Igor who betrayed him and Draco who probably 
would too. (Although I had the impression that his use of Draco's 
name was a way of minipulating him.)

Along that line, in a general school setting, would it be the norm 
for some students to call each other by last names?  Or is that a 
way of showing dislike?
