I think we already saw Hermione's hormonal meltdown in PoA. She's 
thirteen, she's totally overextended (the time-turner) and Draco has 
just made the kind of stupid-mean remark she usually rolls her eyes 
at and tells the others to ignore: this time she hauls off and bitch-
slaps him. She's sort of shrill and edgy the whole book.

Textbook first PMS. A girl can be a menace before she discovers just 
the right combination of ibuprofen, chocolate and hard liquor...
