OK, who wants to start a Snape ship?
I'd vote on a young Hooch who continues to use her maiden name.  
After all, Hooch and brews just go together.

I think you have a good point, just because he had trouble that 
time, doesn't mean he never overcame it.  And we cannot take Sirius' 
comments about Snape's jealousy as fact.
