I wonder what country did the Ollivanders came from? Britain wasn't very
civilized in the forth century B.C., and "Ollivander" doesn't sound
British. Is it the same as "oleander"? To my knowledge oleander is the Latin
name for a bush with beautiful but poisonous flowers, which is common in the
Mediterranean.
Potioncat:
I was wondering if it was "Olive Wand". In this case, does Olive refer to
the olive branch? The sound of it also reminds me of Oliver Wood.

Hmmmm...
Well, what's the language base for his name (it sounds like a 'real'
surname)? That might help decide the matter. ^^
In regards to trees and (possible) locales...don't olive trees orginate from
the Mediterranean area as well? Thereby covering a wide variety of possible
civilazations for Ollivander's family tree to orignate from. If I remember
by geography correctly *snorts*, that would cover Greece, the middle east
(the countries around the inner seas anyway), South Italy...maybe even
Egypt....definetely 'older' civilazations all around at any rate...^^;
Anne (Making a feeble attempt at intelligent speculation...hehe)
