As I was reading this post a thought came to me as to how DD knew of 
the events at GH.  There is no cannon that I know of to prove it, so 
it's pure theory.  But we know from OotP that people in their 
portraits can move from one location to another.  What if there was 
a  portrait hanging in the sitting room of GH and the person 
portrayed in was also a former Headmaster/mistress?  As soon as LV 
comes in the door the person in the portrait reports to DD who sends 
Hagrid to retreive Harry, if he's still alive.
