Laura Peregrine::It's with the second that I'm asking for help. I
thought it would be interesting to add some statistics to the talk
about just how big a job Jim Dale had reading the 5 books, so I've
added up the total time, and am working my way through all the books
counting all the separate voices (so far 221). Does anyone know the
word count for the books?"

Sorcerer's Stone was about 77,000 words; Chamber of Secrets, about
85,000; Prisoner of Azkaban, 104,000 words; Goblet of Fire was 191,000
words and Order of the Phoenix 255,000 words, rounded of course. These
numbers are subject to correction except for Goblet and OOP, which
were publisher's announced numbers.

It's been said around that Book 6 is not going to continue the trend
of ever-increasing length.

There was an interview with Jim Dale about recording OOP. IIRC, the
recording took about ten days to two weeks, which is pretty good IMO
for 23 CD's of audio. One of the many differences between me and an
actor is I would have lost my voice completely after about the second day.
