Meri adds: 
Prof. Dumbledore's first name is also rarely used. Hagrid, Madame 
Maxime, other professors, the Minister of Magic and many other 
people call him by his last name. In fact one of few people who I 
have ever heard call DD by "Albus" is, IIRC, Prof. McGonagal, at the 
begining of SS. (Most other teachers are also refered to by just 
their last names by students and other professors.) Why this is, 
though, I can't speculate. I would assume that calling DD by his 
last name is a term of respect, and for Hagrid...well, he's just 
Hagrid, isn't he? I mean, "Reubeus" seems awfully formal, and 
doesn't quite have the friendly ring to it that "Hagrid" does. Does 
it?
