That thought passed through my mind too, but I wrote it off as, not
Tom Riddle speaking, but Diary!Tom Riddle. Diary!Tom Riddle seems well
aware that he is not the original but a product of the diary, a diary
that is nearly 50 years old. So from the perspectve of that diary,
Diary!Tom can accurately say, that Voldemort is his 'Past, Present,
and Future'. 

Just a thought.
