I never considered that Harry might lose his magical ability.  
Harry has lost several people in his life; and he has never backed 
away from doing what is right, even if it meant his death.  He is not 
afraid of dying either.  At the MoM his only thought while possessed 
by Voldemort was that he would die and see Sirius again.  Harry is 
afraid of losing the people he is close to.  Remember what he thought 
when he believed that Mrs. Weasley was standing over Ron's dead body? 
I also remember the scene in SS/PS where Ron tells Harry that he has 
to sacrifice himself in order for Harry to get to Voldemort.  What if 
Harry had to play DD for a moment and make a decision that was for 
the greater good.  What if he has to let something happen to someone 
in order to defeat evil?  I think that Harry's greatest loss would be 
to lose Ron as a friend.
