I think you've got it.  DD doesn't try to change Snape's mind, or 
Harry's, but he does indicate that he repects both of them. 

This all started from whether Lupin is Lupin or Remus and developed 
into what the students call the adults.  I think on another post it 
was stated that Harry refers to Lockhart and Umbridge without the 
Professor, and wasn't corrected.  If that is the case, then it 
reinforces DD's opinion of Snape.
