Tom Riddle's father was a mudblood.  He's is a half-blood.

Usually when people say they are descended from someone...like George 
Washington, it's not that both mother and father are Washingtons, it's 
just one side of the family tree that's a Washington.  The other side 
might be from say John Quincy Adams.
