It's come up a few times that Salazar must have been pretty wicked to 
have left a monster in the school.  It doesn't really fit with his 
being friends with the other founders, does it?  I mean it's one 
thing to have a falling out, but to leave a monster?

I wonder if there is any chance that the legend was just that?  
Perhaps there was a chamber, but no monster. Tom Riddle found it and 
hatched a basilisk in the chamber?  There are chickens on the grounds 
and lots of toads or is it frogs that's needed?

Any thoughts?
