Syroun adds her two pence:
I think that the biggest regret that Harry has is not having used
the mirror that Sirius gave him as a form of contacting him
secretly. That single act would have allowed Harry to avert the
whole confrontation at the MoM and Sirius would, likely, still be
alive. But, that leads me to another theory; the mirror will yet be
used for contact between Harry and Sirius in books 6 and 7.
Any thoughts?
