I personally think he didn't know how to get out of the Pensieve. DD
didn't explain to him, and Harry is not the kind to look something up
in books unless he badly needs to.

If I remember well, those spells he first taught the DA were mostly
those he learned the year before for the TriWizard Tournament. I found
mentions of Expelliarmus (they learned that one back in CoS, at the
Duelling club), Impediment Jinx, Reductor Curse, Stunning. And then he
got those DADA books at Christmas, and he learned new spells from them
in order to teach the DA. And of course, there's the Patronus Charm.
