That's what I think Snape is up to. He comes in, docks Gryffindors 
and breaks things up. 

I always thought it was Harry he was looking out for, not Draco. It 
seems odd, knowing as we do how good Harry is.  But Harry admits 
himself it was often luck that got him out of jams.  No matter how 
good Harry is, Snape may very well know how "bad" Draco is.
