I don't think that DD needs either of the two methods described in
John's post to escape from Azkaban. DD can most likely produce a
patronus of such power (a phoenix for sure!) that the Dementors
would not be able to stop him from leaving. He does not seem the
type to be overcome by the bad things that have happened in his
life, they are just part of the adventure he is on. I dare Fudge to
summon enough of them to take DD in!
