Sandy:
Well, she does send them an owl in OOP to let them know she's been 
made a prefect. She says something to Harry about "at least it's 
something they'll understand," which does make you wonder how much 
they know or don't know. Somehow, I think she tells them more than 
Dean Thomas, but there's no canon for that besides the fact that we 
know they've been to Diagon Alley. (Maybe it's just advancing age on 
my part, but I feel kind of sorry for the Grangers, losing their only 
child not only to growing up, but to a completely different world 
that they probably can't share much of, at the same time.)
