That's a very good point...in discussing OoPSirius and OoPSnape.  
And I think Sirius has as little reason for trusting Snape as Snape 
has for trusting Sirius. (I think Snape thinks Sirius betrayed the 
Potters.)

But my point was replying to a post far up thread that said that 
James and Sirius were fighting a war against a DE.  I don't think 
they thought he was a DE.
