Carol responds:
Dean Thomas is presented as a Muggleborn in the books. The plot line
about his being a half-blood was rejected. Surely the books have
greater value as canon than material was edited out of the books. (Ron
Weasley's Slytherin cousin and Hermione's little sister fall into the
same category.) Unless the currently *unofficial* information on
Dean's real father finds its way back into the books at some later
point (as it very well could), I think we need to consider him a
Muggleborn.
