On JKR's web site, she revealed that Mark Evans was just a name she
picked out of the air for a minor character who would have no further
role in story. "Evans is a common name" was one excuse....
It was an answer to one of her FAQ Polls, and I don't know if you can
still find it on the site, but the answer was actually quite humorous
